DoubleClick Rich Media: Formats: Expanding
 |
Advertisers use the Expanding rich media format to expand an ad creative into a larger creative upon a user’s mouse-over or click interaction. The most common implementations expand leaderboard creatives vertically into larger rectangles (i.e. expand from a 90 pixel height to a 500 pixel height.) or expand 250x300 rectangle creatives horizontally into larger rectangles (i.e. expand from a 300 pixel width to a 600 pixel width.) Many other implementations are also possible with the Expanding format.

Creative Possibilities of Expanding AdsThe Expanding format is highly customizable and can be designed with virtually any initial size and any expansion size. Just some of the creative possibilities for expanding ads include:
Tabbed Expanding – Organize and present a wide range of relevant information into a series of easy-to-navigate panels. Each panel can feature video, dynamic data, and other content that complements your advertising message.
Free-Form Expanding – Anywhere on a web page, place a floating ad of any size and shape that expands into a larger free-form creative.
Pre-Expanding – Display an Expanding ad in its expanded state first, after which the ad automatically retracts to its standard size and placement.
Push Down Ads – Create room for an ad’s expansion state by pushing content down further on the page rather than covering the content with the expansion.
